Short Saturday blog

Big fails and great music

Back when I first started this blog, I wanted to turn it into a podcast. I didn't have the know-how or proper equipment, two microphones an ipod, and a podcasting program. I gave up on it because I never had a dedicated schedule nor the topics to cover.
Unlike blogging, I have an unlimited amount of free time and, thanks to youtube and now twitter, the needed and endless amounts of topics.

For those who noticed my tweets at around nine am this morning, I went live on Ustream, and failed, epically. My music player started working after I ended the feed and I was a little frustrated. Next time I'll just play tunes from my ipod or back-up ereader.

I did read off purevolume.com's top 5 bands list, If sound was recorded you can hear that using the link on my twiter feed.

Some very talented Artists are making waves in todays music scene, but you already knew that. And don't forget to follow me on twitter, @bobsbandreview

First blog of 2013 and 3 new bands

Three bands discovered!

This past week; on youtube I found a band from New York. New York has always been the location of my first love, Ghostbusters; Rarely do I find amazing artists, such as the members and friends of Against The Current, Alex Goot, Kurt Hugo Scheinder and Chrissy Costanza(lead singer of ATC).
If you've been under a rock for the past month, then you would know of their cover of Beauty and a Beat(originally by bieber) This cover is WAY better than the original and if you follow me on twitter @bobsbandreview than you would know this.
I wish this group of artists the best of luck along the road and maybe a possible interview in the future.

Next, my second twitter follower, Jamestown Story. I am also a huge fan of acoustic music. Jamestown Story delievers great sound and a touch of heart and soul in his songs. More on this artist to come in a future blog.

Finally, My New York Summer, @mynewyorksummer.
My third twitter follower, also delievers a awesome sound that relates to today. Their song Besides Me, is one of my favorites so far. I will write more in a future blog.

please bear with me while I transition into a mobile/tablet setting. its not all too easy typing. and be sure to find bobs local bamd review on facebook and share this with your friends and check out my old blogs aswell.

SS Showcase 4/16/2010

We've all come to enjoy the Second Saturday Showcase in Kissimmee as being one of the best local venues for a great crowd and great bands.

On Saturday night, I had the opportunity to hang out with 3 of the bands, and get to know them a little bit. The First band that played was a indie/rock band from Tampa called Marksmen, with Matt Segallos, Chris Brickman, Reed Murray(no relation to Bill Murray) and Glenn Espinoza. I only caught the last 3 songs, but these guys played like true musicians with heart, and I wouldn't be surprised if a Label picked them up soon.

Now the next band which is also from Tampa, Preson Phillips and who He called (the other members) The
Tryouts. Which was a folk/indie/worship like group, played a really great set, The lead singer/guitarist Tommy "Preson Phillips" Showed that He has been playing since 2000, when He got his start with the band Cool Hand Luke(Unfortunately I did not get to see play, But I do have an album from 2007) and Has been a Pastor for The Watermark Church in Tampa and continues to use His talents to praise the Lord. I did meet one of (the tryouts) before the show, Ashton(If I misspell a name, let me know) He seemed like a great guy, I didn't get a chance to interview the others in this group, But I would definitely catch another show that features Preson Phillips.

And the last band I got to see was from right here in Orlando, Bellarive;   With Members Sean Curran,Mellisa Mage, Mike Mage, Josh Luker, Zach Glotelty, and Kenny Werner. Now, I also found out that the members are Star Wars Fans and I found this out personally from drummer Kenny Werner, just before the band played. They are featured on the Record Label Come&Live!  Now every once in awhile, I come across a great worship band, and Bellarive was one of those, All of the elements you would expect a
true worship band to have, they had the harmony, and the passion all mixed together showing their love for the Father, in songs that you'll want to hear over and over again. Now I'm not really emotional, but they're song; Shine On, was truly inspirational and so far one of 3 favorites from this band; and I hope to hear them play again soon.

If you have any questions for me, please feel free to send me an email to mrbobfoto@gmail.com or find me on facebook by clicking HERE. And If you enjoyed reading my blog, let me know. I love feedback.

Showbread Concert Review April 1st

If there was only one word to describe this band, that word would be Awesome! Showbread always plays a great set, but when you add a zero dollar admission price, it's even better. Well, let me explain this, Showbread is currently on a Free tour, Miami and Kissimmee were on the Florida List followed by Georgia. There is more I would like to add to this first blog, but I had a previous engament that day, and I got there an hour late and missed most of the show, but On April 16th, there will be another editon of Second Saturday Showcase at the North Kissimmee Baptist Church, featuring; Cool Hand Luke, Alexander, Bellarive, Preson Phillips, and Marksmen. Times for this Show are 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on 425 W. Donegan Avenue in Kissimmee. There is no advance ticket sale so bring some cash to get in and buy some cool merch. and make sure to look forward to my next blog, as it will feature more band reviews, including new cd release reviews and interviews.

Live Long and Prosper,

Bob
